Bragantino SP defeated Cruzeiro MG 4-2 in the Brasileirão - Série A at Estadio Cicero de Souza Marques. The home side claimed the points even though Cruzeiro MG spent most of the night in possession.

Match Summary

Cruzeiro MG were on the ball from the opening minutes and kept that share through both halves. Bragantino SP lived without it and still left with the win. Savio Pereira Sampaio refereed a contest that stayed at eleven a side.

The first half brought the bulk of the cautions. Guzman Rodriguez went into the book early for the hosts, William was yellow-carded for Cruzeiro before the game was 20 minutes old, and Ryan Augusto followed for Bragantino SP around the half-hour. None of those bookings became a dismissal.

After the break Cruzeiro continued to circulate the ball. Felipe Barbosa Santos was shown a yellow for Cruzeiro MG in the 77th minute. When the match ended, the official score was Bragantino SP 4, Cruzeiro MG 2.

Key Moments

The possession split is the swing that defined the night. Cruzeiro MG had 68 percent of the ball and more shots on target, yet the official result was a 4-2 defeat. Bragantino SP generated 0.45 expected goals to Cruzeiro's 0.23 and took the points anyway.

Keeping eleven on the pitch was the other hinge. Those first-half yellows never became red cards. Cruzeiro therefore had the numbers as well as the ball and still could not get a result.

The 77th-minute caution for Felipe Barbosa Santos was late enough to matter if it had been a red. It was not. The visitors finished with a full team and a 4-2 loss.
