Independiente del Valle beat Deportes Tolima 3-1 in the Copa Libertadores, breaking a scoreless first half after the hour and answering a late reply to keep a two-goal margin at the end.

Match Summary

The first half ended without a goal. Independiente del Valle would finish with the heavier shot count, but they needed the second half to turn that pressure into a lead.

The second half was a different match. D. A. Romero Padilla had Independiente del Valle in front after 59 minutes. C. Gonzalez made it two in the 70th minute, with D. A. Romero Padilla the provider this time. Deportes Tolima stayed within reach long enough for J. Hernandez to score in the 84th minute. Independiente del Valle restored the cushion at the 90th minute through M. Perello, assisted by R. Briones, and the official scoreline closed at 3-1.

Key Moments

The first swing arrived with the score still 0-0. A. Parra Osorio was booked in the 58th minute, and Independiente del Valle scored immediately afterward. That goal forced Deportes Tolima to chase. The second home goal, created by the same player who had opened the scoring, turned a single breakthrough into a two-goal lead and left the visitors needing a pair of replies. Hernandez's strike with six minutes left made the closing stages live again. That is why Perello's finish at 90 minutes carried weight. It removed the chance of a last scramble. Discipline stayed in yellows only. H. E. Martinez Yepez and S. Guzman were also cautioned for Deportes Tolima, and J. Sornoza picked up Independiente del Valle's only booking. No red cards followed.

Match Statistics

Possession finished 54 percent for Deportes Tolima and 46 percent for Independiente del Valle, but the attacking numbers ran the other way. The home side took 19 shots and put 6 on target. Yellow cards finished 1-3, with Independiente del Valle the cleaner side.
