The opening period remained cautious with few scoring chances. Montevideo Wanderers registered the only corner of the first half in the 37th minute, yet neither side found a way through. The teams went into the interval level at 0-0, setting up a second half that would prove decisive once play resumed.
Second-Half Breakthrough
Montevideo City Torque earned a corner early in the second period at the 50th minute, but Wanderers quickly took control of set-piece situations. The visitors won four corners between the 63rd and 69th minutes, building sustained pressure. That pressure paid off when S. Benitez found the net in the 69th minute with a normal goal to give Wanderers the lead. Eight minutes later L. Cosentino doubled the advantage with another normal goal, leaving Torque needing a response that never arrived.
