Palmeiras SP defeated Bahia BA 1-0 in Brasileirão - Série A at Nubank Parque, taking the lead in the seventh minute and holding it through to the final whistle. The scorer was not listed in match data, yet that early goal proved enough on a night when the home side created far more of the chances.

Match Summary

Palmeiras struck first and never looked like surrendering the advantage. Seven minutes in they found the net, and with no verified scorer attached, the rest of the opening period became a question of whether Bahia could respond. They did not. The visitors stayed within a goal, but the pattern of the half was Palmeiras asking the questions and Bahia trying to stay organized.

After the break the visitors still needed a way back. Bahia were shown a yellow card in the 61st minute. Palmeiras collected one of their own in the 65th. A second Bahia caution arrived in the 87th minute. No red cards were issued. Palmeiras, the pre-match favorite, closed the game at 1-0 under referee Braulio da Silva Machado.

Key Moments

The early goal was the swing that mattered because it put Bahia in chase mode against a side that already had the better of the chances. From there the visitors needed a clear look at goal and rarely produced one.

Bahia's return in the final third explains why the score stayed put. Ten shots yielded a single effort on target. Palmeiras put 11 on target from 25 attempts, which gave the home lead a cushion even without a second goal.

The yellow cards after the hour did not change the numbers on the field. Both teams finished with eleven players, so Palmeiras managed the closing stages at even strength.

Match Statistics

The shot and chance numbers lined up with a home win that was tighter on the scoreboard than in the run of play. Palmeiras recorded 1.91 expected goals against 0.49 for Bahia, took 25 shots to 10, and put 11 of those on target while Bahia managed one. Corners finished 7-3 in Palmeiras' favor. Yellow cards were 1 for Palmeiras and 2 for Bahia, with neither side shown a red.
