RB Leipzig beat Borussia Monchengladbach 3-0 in the Bundesliga at Red Bull Arena. Leipzig took the points in a match the visitors could not puncture, even with a little more of the ball.

Match Summary

Leipzig began in a 4-3-3, with M. Vandevoordt in goal, R. Baku, W. Orbán, C. Lukeba and D. Raum at the back, and B. Gruda, T. Gomis and A. Nusa in attack. R. Reitz, N. Seiwald and E. Banzuzi started in midfield. Borussia Monchengladbach used a 4-2-3-1, M. Nicolas in goal and T. Kleindienst as the central forward.

Leipzig were without C. Baumgartner (thigh injury), O. Nyland (foot injury), A. Ouedraogo (shoulder injury) and Romulo Cardoso (knee injury). They still dictated the shooting and won 3-0, with S. Jablonski in charge. Gladbach had spells of the ball but no way back into the contest.

Key Moments

The afternoon turned on who created the attempts, not who held the ball. Gladbach's possession edge never became a spell of sustained pressure. The 3-0 scoreline was about Leipzig's chance count, not a territorial lockout.

Antonio Nusa was shown a yellow card in the 72nd minute, the only booking of the match. With no red cards, Borussia Monchengladbach never received a man-advantage that might have changed the closing stages.

Recent meetings had stayed tight. Leipzig won 1-0 on 11 April 2026, the sides drew 0-0 on 28 November 2025, Gladbach won 1-0 on 29 March 2025, and they drew 0-0 on 9 November 2024. This 3-0 opened a wider gap than that run.

Match Statistics

Possession finished 48 percent for RB Leipzig and 52 percent for Borussia Monchengladbach. The shot count did not follow that split. Leipzig took 24 shots and put 11 on target. Gladbach managed 14 shots and four on target. Corners were close at 7-6 to the hosts. Leipzig collected the only yellow card, and neither team was shown a red.

What the Result Means
