São Paulo SP were beaten 1-2 by Santos SP in Brasileirão - Série A. Luciano scored from the penalty spot, then Gabriel Barbosa struck twice to complete the turnaround.

Match Summary

The opening half hour at Morumbi produced no goals. São Paulo SP then went in front when Luciano converted a penalty after 34 minutes. The advantage barely registered. Two minutes later Gabriel Barbosa leveled for Santos SP, Gonzalo Escobar the provider, and the visitors were back on terms well before the interval.

That burst came with a run of bookings. Lucas Veríssimo was shown a yellow card for Santos SP just before the penalty. Luciano was booked for São Paulo SP, and Christian Oliva followed for Santos SP as half-time approached. After the restart the visitors took the lead. Barbosa scored again in the 54th minute, with Everton assisting, and that goal stood as the winner. São Paulo SP had a long stretch left to respond and could not. Santos SP saw the match out.

Key Moments

The penalty was São Paulo SP's chance to make pressure count from the spot rather than from open play. It put them ahead, but it also invited an immediate reply. Barbosa's equalizer, created by Escobar, mattered because it arrived so quickly. The home lead never had time to settle, and Santos SP reached the break level.

The second Barbosa goal after half-time decided the points. Once Santos SP were in front, São Paulo SP had to chase, and they never found a second goal of their own. A Santos SP yellow card in the 76th minute did not change the score or the shape of the closing period.

Match Statistics

São Paulo SP finished with 59 percent of possession and more attempts, 10 shots to 6, including 4 on target against 3. They also won 13 corners to 1, a gap that never showed on the scoreboard. Santos SP were more efficient with fewer chances. Yellow cards finished one for São Paulo SP and three for Santos SP. No red cards were shown.
